Hypnotic Trance
In hypnotic trance we can establish direct communication with the SCM which holds our deepest beliefs about ourselves. We silence the judgmental critical faculty of the CM and can acquire new insights and behaviors. If the human mind is compared to a computer, hypnosis is simply a way a reprogramming the computer in a desired way. In hypnotic trance new ideas may be put forth as suggestions without resistance from the CM. We can overcome our childhood programming.
Conscious mind (CM) is logical, analytical and critical. Conscious mind is where we abstract and generalize from our experiences, and make judgments which will affect our actions in the future. These judgments can make us resist changes that we want to make. In hypnosis the resistance of the conscious mind disappears and change can be accomplished easily and gracefully.
The conscious mind is like a flashlight that illuminates only one thing at a time in an attic, even though the attic is full of stuff. The subconscious mind is like the attic full of stuff. All you ever learned-- every experience, every memory, and every emotion-- is stored in a multisensory recording in your subconscious mind, beneath the threshold of conscious awareness.
Your life is run largely by your subconscious mind. Your breathing, heartbeat, digestion, and all other autonomic or automatic processes are subconscious.
The subconscious mind can also delete information from our awareness, that we don’t need at any particular time.--just like a carpenter gets little cuts or a cook, gets little burns, in the course of the workday. They don't notice them because it would interfere with the course of their work. This is a form of hypnotic anesthesia.
The difference between subconscious mind and unconscious mind is mainly one of depth When we're asleep we're unconscious. However, when we're in hypnotic trance, we can access the subconscious and find out what unconscious emotions may be blocking us from achieving our goals.
